wander web application
spring 2021
TASK
In my Interaction Design I class, we spent the entirety of the semester developing a web application. We had to apply information design principles to web and mobile interface design while exploring user-centered interface and programming design strategies for the delivery of responsive data-driven websites. The problem I tackled with my project was the fact that when young adults move to a new city that they are unfamiliar with, they face the issue of navigating a new physical environment while also having to create new relationships and build community from scratch. My project Wander solved this issue by combining both navigating the city terrain and fostering new relationships and community into one.
process
The process started with coming up with several problems and project pitches that solved those problems. From there, we met weekly to talk about a new tool or strategy, such as site maps, wireframes, prototypes, usability testing, and iterative development, and spent the rest of the week applying it to our project. In class we would meet in small groups to go over our developments and get feedback. My final product was a clickable prototype with wireframes in desktop and mobile versions.
Wander
For young adults who have moved to a new city for an extended period, Wander is a travel and social media tool that allows users to get to know a city and forge connections. Unlike Yelp, Google Maps, or Snapchat, Wander is an all-in-one city exploration and relationship-forming experience that acts as an instant community for wherever you may wander.
